Call forwarding guide
Forward a business phone system to an AI agent
Business phone systems — RingCentral, Ooma, Vonage, 3CX, Microsoft Teams Phone and others — forward calls from their admin app or web portal rather than with star codes.
What to look for
- Open your system's admin portal and find the main number's call handling (often “Call handling”, “Call forwarding” or “Call flow”).
- Add an external number — your AI agent's number — as the destination.
- Choose when: every call, when nobody answers (or after a set number of rings), when all your people are busy, or outside business hours.
- Save, then call your business number from another phone to check it reaches your AI agent.
Good to know
- Your AI agent's number is on your Phonefront dashboard. Enter it as 10 digits, area code first.
- After-hours forwarding is where a phone system shines: set your business hours once, and calls outside them go to your AI agent automatically.
- If you can't find the setting, your phone system's support team can set it in a few minutes.
- After setting it up, call your business number from another phone to check it reaches your AI agent.
